Information Regarding Voter Request from the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity

My office has been receiving phone calls and emails from voters concerned about the recent request from the Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity for Florida’s voter information from the Secretary of State’s office).  Please note, any information released under Florida's public record laws, will be at the state level by the Secretary of State's office. Listed below is his contact information should you wish to share your concerns directly with the Secretary:
Email: SecretaryofState@DOS.MyFlorida.com; (850) 245-6524.

Sadly, under Florida Statute 97.0585, only your social security number; driver license number or Florida ID number; signature and where you registered or updated your information are protected from public record. All other personal information, including your: name, address, birthdate, email and voter history are subject to Florida's public record laws, Florida Statute 119.07.

Although I cannot prevent your voter information that is currently public record from being released, protecting voters' personal information continues to be one of my top priorities. I have lobbied on this issue (Florida Today Guest Column from January 15, 2016) and will continue to do so.  I believe that public record laws were meant for the public to monitor their government...not the other way around.

My fellow Supervisors and I continue to lobby on this issue but we need your help! For this law to change, your elected state legislators need to hear from YOU - The Voter!   Together we can work to ensure Florida's voters are protected.
