Adopt a Precinct

Getting Started - New Partners

(Note: Organizations that publicly support or oppose a candidate or issue on the ballot are not eligible for the Adopt-A-Precinct Program. Florida law prohibits poll workers serving in a precinct from being composed solely of one political party.)

As Supervisor of Elections, I am pleased to share an exciting opportunity about the Brevard County Elections Office Adopt-A-Precinct Program, a partnership that encourages civic participation in the elections process. Working together through community involvement, the elections office and your organization fund the future!

Your organization participates in this partnership by “adopting” one of Brevard’s 117 polling locations. Compensation is paid directly to the organization, which will be recognized for this outstanding service.

  • All poll workers must be registered to vote in Brevard County.
  • You will need a person to coordinate and at least 10 to 16 bipartisan poll workers, depending on the size of the precinct you adopt.
  • Per Florida law, poll workers may not be a candidate, or the immediate family member of a candidate on the ballot of the election in which they will be working.
  • We will try to assign you a precinct in an area of your choice.
  • We will provide all training, which is mandatory. Training is conducted prior to each election and lasts, on average, from three to five hours depending on position.
  • Poll workers must arrive at their polling location no later than 6:00 a.m. on Election Day, and are required to remain at the polling place until all election duties are completed, which will be approximately one to two hours after the polls close.
  • Poll workers must work the entire day (may not work shifts).  If polling hours are extended due to Court or Executive Order, all poll workers are required to stay until the final closing.
  • Poll workers are encouraged to Vote by Mail or Early Vote since there is no guarantee they will be assigned to their home precinct on Election Day.
  • Poll workers are asked to bring food and necessities for the entire day, as they may not leave during the day.
  • Poll workers are asked to wear comfortable, casual, business attire. Poll workers may not wear campaign, partisan, or political attire.  You are encouraged to wear shirts with your organization's logo.

For more information, please view the Adopt-A-Precinct brochure.

If your organization is interested in participating in this exciting fundraising opportunity, please view and print the Adopt-A-Precinct request form and W-9 form.  The completed application will be reviewed for a determination of eligibility.  If you have any further questions, please contact my Outreach Department at 321-690-6850 or by email at pollworker@votebrevard.com.
