Instead of counting votes last Thursday, the Brevard County Supervisor of Elections office counted money raised to feed Brevard’s children this summer. Proceeds from the first annual Supervisor of Elections’ “Vote against Childhood Hunger” Bake Sale will go to provide money for local programs that feed Brevard’s children throughout the summer months. The Bake Sale was held in conjunction with Share our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale, a national program dedicated to ending childhood hunger.
Supervisor Scott set a goal to raise $500.00 for their first bake sale. The amount raised was $1255.24. Wal-Mart donated an additional $500.00 bringing the grand total to $1755.24. Publix donated a store gift card that was used to purchase brownie, cake, cookie and muffin mixes.
“I want to thank everyone involved for making our bake sale such a huge success: my staff for sharing their amazing baking talents; our corporate sponsors, Publix and Wal-Mart; and especially our generous bake sale customers,” said Supervisor Scott. “It is a wonderful feeling to know that the seeds of giving are alive and well in our community.”
