Brevard County Supervisor of Elections Lori Scott announced today the designation of The Harry T. & Harriette V. Moore Cultural Center as a new polling location. The Center, located at 2180 Freedom Avenue, in Mims, serves as a memorial and educational site honoring the Moore’s contribution to civil rights—particularly the right to vote.

“The selection of the Moore Center as a polling location is a fitting tribute to the courage and vision of these two Civil Rights pioneers,” said Supervisor Scott. “This beautiful 5,000 sq ft facility is a celebration of the Moore’s efforts to register and empower voters.”

“It is entirely appropriate because the right to vote is one of the things Dad worked so hard to have happen for African Americans,” explained Juanita Moore. “My Dad led the way in getting more than 100,000 new African American voters on the rolls. This made African Americans an integral part of the political process.”
