Supervisor of Elections Lori Scott announces Primary Election Sample Ballots are now available online through the election website at: VoteBrevard.com. "The August 26th Primary is fast approaching and we want Brevard’s voters to have the information they need to be well prepared," said Supervisor Scott.

Through the VoteBrevard.com website, voters have the ability to view and print their individual Sample Ballots by selecting their particular precinct and party affiliation. "Although voters will receive their "official" Sample Ballot in the mail, the electronic versions give voters a nice preview of the candidates they will see on their August 26th Primary ballot," said Supervisor Scott. Voters are encouraged to pre-mark their Sample Ballot and bring it to the polls to use as a guide when marking their official election ballot. Mail (Absentee) ballots may not be used as Sample Ballots at the polls.

"It is also important to remember that Florida is a "Closed Primary State," said Supervisor Scott. "During a Primary Election, voters receive a ballot listing only the candidates associated with their political party affiliation, as recorded on their voter registration record in my office." Exceptions are: Universal Primary Contests or non-partisan races, such as: School Board and Judicial races. Voters have until 29 days before the Primary, also known as book closing, to register to vote or to change their political party affiliation for those changes to be effective for the Primary Election. The book closing deadline for the Primary is July 28, 2014.

Through the VoteBrevard.com website, voters can: print a Florida Voter Registration Application, verify their voter registration status, review a list of the 2014 candidates, request a Mail (Absentee) Ballot, and view a list of Early Voting locations and hours of operation.
