The Resolution was sponsored and presented by Commissioner Curt Smith who was one of the judges for this year’s event.
583 students, from 23 elementary schools in Brevard, submitted their artwork for this year’s contest. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place entries were selected in addition to three Honorable Mentions. The following winners were announced: 1st Place - Sarah Biesak (Viera Charter School), 2nd Place - Shelby Petracco (Ralph Williams), and 3rd Place - Cheyenne Twiss (Westside); Honorable Mentions: Keith Santos (Mila Elementary), Brianna Firkel (Suntree Elementary) and Collin Acker (Westside Elementary).
Winners were presented with prizes from local Chick-fil-A locations, who have partnered with Supervisor Scott on the Art Contest for the past two years. “We saw a 30% increase in this year’s entries,” said Supervisor Scott. “Having a great community partner like Chick-fil-A certainly encourages our young artists.” The 1st Place winner received a Chick-fil-A party for 25 people; 2nd Place received a cookie party for the winner’s class; 3rd Place received meal cards for the winner’s immediate family.
