Supervisor of Elections Lori Scott sent out new Voter Information Cards to 1,461 voters formally registered with the now disbanded “Independence” Party of Florida. The “Independence” Party of Florida was disbanded earlier this month for failure to comply with certain statutory requirements.

Per state guidelines, the political party of these voters defaulted to No Party Affiliation (NPA). Voters affected by this change, who wish to not remain a NPA, may complete the form on the back of their new Voter Information Card or complete a new Voter Registration Application.

11,629 Brevard County voters received the same notice last month when the Florida Division of Elections disbanded the “Independent” Party of Florida for the same reason.

On April 20, 2017, the state approved the “Independent” Party of Florida’s new party status which once again makes the “Independent” Party of Florida an eligible minor party within the state.  Voters wishing to register with the “Independent” Party of Florida may do so by submitting a Florida Voter Registration Application.

A current list of registered political parties in Florida and Florida Voter Registration Applications can be found online at VoteBrevard.com.
