Committeeman/Committeewoman Qualifying Period NOON, June 8, 2020 – NOON, June 12, 2020
Pre-qualifying papers can be accepted beginning May 26, 2020*
*F.S. 99.061(8) states that qualifying papers may be submitted to the qualifying officer beginning 14 days prior to the qualifying period. Please call (321) 633-2166 or email candidate@votebrevard.com to make an appointment to file your qualifying forms.
Missing or Incomplete Information - F.S 99.061(7)
If the filing officer receives qualifying papers during the qualifying period prescribed in this section which do not include all items required by paragraph (a) prior to the last day of qualifying, the filing officer shall make a reasonable effort to notify the candidate of the missing or incomplete items and shall inform the candidate that all required items must be received by the close of qualifying.
A candidate’s name as it is to appear on the ballot may not be changed after the end of qualifying.
The filing officer performs a ministerial function in reviewing qualifying papers. In determining whether a candidate is qualified, the filing officer shall review the qualifying papers to determine whether all items required by paragraph (a) have been properly filed and whether each item is complete on its face, including whether items that must be verified have been properly verified pursuant to s. 92.525(1)(a). The filing officer may not determine whether the contents of the qualifying papers are accurate.
Campaign Finance - F.S. 106.0702
- An individual running for precinct committeeman or committeewoman who receives a contribution or makes an expenditure, shall file a report of all contributions received and all expenditures made. The report shall be filed no later than Midnight (Eastern Time) on the 4th day preceding the Primary Election.
- All contributions and expenditures must be reported as required by Chapter 106 of the Florida Election Code.
- Reports shall be filed online using the Supervisor of Elections’ campaign finance module,F.S. 106.07.
- It is the responsibility of the individual running for precinct committeeman or committeewoman to notify the Supervisor of Elections and receive login ID/password and PIN numbers to submit the reportin compliance with Florida law. If NO contributions and expenditures are made, this is not necessary.

Late-filed reports are subject to automatic fines, F.S. 106.0702
- $50 per day for first three days
- $500 per day for each late day thereafter, not to exceed 25% of total contributions or expenditures, whichever is greater
